Mahashivratri - The celebration of Shiva

Greetings, Yogis, Yoginis & friends,

Today is Mahashivratri, the celebration of Adi Yogi, the first yogi, Lord Shiva. I feel truly blessed to be in India for the second time for this Hindu festival.

Lord Shiva is the destroyer of evil, overcoming darkness and ignorance. It is said if you stay awake and meditate all night Shiva will appear to you.

Tonight with my friend and fellow Yogini Isabel we will participate in a gathering and worship this deity. Around our necks we wear a rudraksha mala, one hundred and eight prayer beads, the tears of Shiva.

As a Yogi meditating on Mahashivratri we aim to realise ourselves through realising Shiva within.

Sending love and blessings,

Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti,

Debbie

Hi Deva Priya. Great words and thoughts once again. Reassuring to know that you’re there for us. It would be great if you get the video up and running. My adventure holiday as from tomorrow midnight ends as I’m house bound by enforced isolation because of my age here in New Zealand for possibly the next 3 months being able to do yoga alongside yoginis would help me to keep calm, healthy in body and mind.

Bless you Deva Priya
